Poplar in the centre of Volgograd

The poplar on the square of Fallen fighters — a historical and natural monument of Volgograd. Located in the Central area on the square of "Fallen fighters" near the "Eternal flame" monument and Ruben Ibarruri. According to the official version, the tree survived the battle of Stalingrad, and has on its trunk numerous testimonies of military action. The inscription on the plaque reads: "this poplar has carried his life through the great battle." According to performing inspection specialists, wood turned at least a hundred years. The average life expectancy of a poplar is 80 years.
