Restored German helmet M40

Repost on Facebook and Twitter

The helmet was found in Stalingrad in the place of Orlovka, this is the northern cauldron of the 6th army. The helmet was found in a trench during the January 1943 battles. The helmet has been refurbished and painted. The helmet depicts the Madonna of Stalingrad, a drawing by the German military doctor Kurt Reuber, made in coal on the back of a Soviet school geographic map on the night of December 24-25, 1942, surrounded by Stalingrad during the final stage of the Battle of Stalingrad. Preserved in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.
