The steel breastplate of a soldier of the Red Army SN 42 (SN-2) was found in the Central area of the city of Volgograd (former Stalingrad) during the construction of a residential building in the 1960's. All this time the steel breastplate was kept in the country house of a resident of Volgograd, who fought in the Second World war. Such steel bibs has been successfully used by Soviet troops in Stalingrad, the sapper units and assault groups. As you can see in the photo he has two gunshot wounds, but they were unable to penetrate the armor and possibly saved the life of a soldier.
